This week’s Featured Foodie is Webb’s Vegetables!
Our Up West road trip landed us at Webb’s Vegetables just off the O’Leary roundabout on the North Cape Coastal Drive. We met owner Trevor Webb who shared the story of how the roadside vegetable market with its 10 acres of vegetable garden came to be. The building was originally a chicken coop that was moved there from a little ways up the road 20 years ago. It’s is so clean and filled with a wide variety of super fresh veggies. Trevor shared his knowledge in a friendly and funny fashion. It’s always so great meeting new PEI Foodies like Trevor.
Blair loaded up with Red Fingerling potatoes, baby carrots and garlic sprigs to make a clam chowder with Annand Clams we had picked up earlier in the day. We learned that the Fingerling potatoes are great for chowders because they don’t break down and they keep their shape. And it’s true. They were great in the chowder.
Treat yourself and support local. Go give Trevor a visit at Webb’s Vegetables. You’ll be glad you did.
