Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
  • 1 cup shortening
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • ICING RECIPE
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • 1 tsp. white vanilla
Instructions
  1. Mix ingredients together and place in fridge overnight.
  2. Roll out thin and cut into shapes.
  3. Bake on nonstick cookie sheet.
  4. Bake at 350°F. for about 8-10 min., until golden brown, then let cool.
  5. Blend icing ingredients together until right consistency.
  6. Apply icing between two cooled cookies, or for extra flavour, substitute with jam.
  7. Apply icing to top of cookie.
  8. Add candy sprinkles for a fun effect.
