This week’s Featured Foodie is Chef Irwin MacKinnon!
A big Chef’s hat off to Chef Irwin MacKinnon of Papa Joe’s Restaurant who was recently awarded the “Culinary Federation Eastern Region – Chef of the Year 2018” at this year’s regional CCFCC conference.
Each year the prestigious award is presented to one deserving Chef from each region, who, in the eyes of the membership, best exemplifies the elements of professionalism, dedication to the craft of cooking and has applied themselves to the success of Branch work.
This year the Prince Edward Island Association of Chefs and Cooks feel that Chef Irwin MacKinnon is a deserving candidate of the Chef Alex Clavel “Atlantic Chef of the Year” Award and would well represent our Region at a National level.
Irwin is an Island-born chef who loves cooking regional cuisine using local ingredients concentrating on flavour and presentation. Irwin is well respected by the culinary community for his many years of experience and relentless work ethic. He is very dedicated and actively supports the culinary profession. He is also recognized by local farmers, producers and artisans using Island products extensively throughout his menus.
So keep your knives and forks crossed as Chef Irwin is considered for National Chef of the Year at the CCFCC National Conference in June.
